2011-2012

Brightlingsea’s Superleague team was formed when discussions took place over the summer months, with 6 players living in Brightlingsea were all playing their Superleague for different teams. With Gary Campbell, Kevin Savory, Mark Henry & Anthony Neal all representing Colchester Rileys and Tony Starbrook & Tony Osborne playing for Walton. with the six players listed Brightlingsea added Bryan Margerison who played briefly for Walton, Ricky Harmsworth, Steve Cook & Brenden Cardy who played darts in the local Brightlingsea league and Liam Fairclough a youngster from near the area.

After a good strong season by the team Brightlingsea managed to finish in a respectable 4th position in the Division B table with a very good second half of the season with the top 3 teams all getting promoted to Division A.

2012-2013

Brightlingsea’s Second season saw the departures of Ricky Harmsworth who moved away and Liam Fairclough who moved on to Thorpe. Brightlingsea Welcomed Nick Grainger who had been previously with Thorpe & Walton and Andy Pagett who played in the Brightlingsea League. The main bulk of the team remained the same.

Brightlingsea had an excellent season winning the B Division in the second time of asking! with a 7-5 win over Chelmsford in the last game securing an 8 point margin over Saffron Walden in second.

2013-2014

Brightlingsea prepared for their first season in the A division. Bryan Margerison left to re-join Walton and returning was Ricky Harmsworth after a year away. Brightlingsea also brought in Karl Mullenger who had had a few seasons away from Superleague, Karl is a former Essex County player back in the early 90’s.

On the board it was an excellent achievement for the team managing to stay in the A division finishing 3rd from bottom, 12 points ahead of relegated Rayleigh and Saffron Walden.

There was also a first for Brightlingsea as Tony Osborne become the first player to be called up to represent the Essex County team after winning 19 from 22 single matches in the season.

In a bid to remain in the A division and compete Brightlingsea brought in two current Essex county players in Darren O’Neill & Gavin Payne. Both joining the team from Walton. Also joining that season was Joe Twinn, also from Walton who had been playing for the Essex County Youth dart team and making big progress with his darts. Jack Dilworth, another youngster from Clacton joined the team half way through the season. he had been exceptional for the The Essex County Youth team. Andy Pagett joined Walton in exchange.

Brightlingsea finished the season 6th overall.

Another first as Darren O’Neill & Tony Osborne won the Essex Superleague Pairs along the way!

Brightlingsea made 3 major signings, in come Alan Collins from Springfiled, with over 100 county caps, Kevin Edwards also from Springfield, a player that has won everything the game has to offer in Essex and Scott Lawrie from Walton, another player who had been formidable in Essex over the recent years. Three of the best players in Essex without question! Brightlingsea also welcomed back Bryan Margerison signing from Walton who had previously had a very good season.

With these three players there were wholesale changes, Captain Mark Henry decided to form a new team ‘Brightlingsea Regent’ and left with Anthony Neal, Gary Campbell, Kevin Savory and Karl Mullenger.

Nick Grainger took over the captaincy and Brightlingsea finished in their highest ever Essex Superleague position in Third!
